Online sales bonanza clicks for Telstra

Telstra has generated cost benefits worth $A1bn since mid-2010 via its "Project New" overhaul. Gerd Schenkel, executive director of digital at the telco, says the adoption of new online self-service functions by customers has accounted for about a tenth of this gain. He notes that the internet solutions rolled out are also leading to higher product sales, due to the convenience for customers. The next step will be the launch of a service on the Facebook social networking media platform.
