Ascom Gets OpenScape Ready Certification [Travel & Leisure Close - Up]

(Travel & Leisure Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) At the end of December 2011, Ascom Wireless Solutions and Siemens Enterprises on-going collaboration to optimize interoperability between the companies' products rendered Ascom an OpenScape Ready certification.


The Ascom i62 handset has been thoroughly tested on Siemens UC platform OpenScape Voice to ensure voice quality, trouble-free interoperability and scalability.

The Company said Ascom initially became a "Siemens Advanced Partner in the wireless technology segment" in 2008 via the Ascom i75 handset - certified for both the converged IP communications platform HiPath 4000 and OpenScape Voice. Now, officially tested for use on the new open interface SIP platform OpenScape Voice V5, the succeeding Ascom i62 model has reached the same level of interoperability.

"This marks the next step in our mutual efforts to offer the best possible customer experience. And we are proud to become a full and optimized supplier to both of Siemens' call servers for large and medium sized clients," says Henrik Sandberg, Product Manager Interoperability at Ascom Wireless Solutions.

According to a release, the joint certification process ensures interoperability for the Ascom i62 VoWiFi handset on 802.11n networks, and Siemens OpenScape Voice V5 architecture, ensuring business-critical communications for all users.

"This is great news for any organization using a Siemens Enterprise Communications platform, regardless if it's the popular HiPath 4000 or the new OpenScape Voice. Combined with the Ascom i62 handset users can rest assured that they will be in constant control through seamless voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), and instant data transmission, throughout every part of their facilities. In the healthcare segment, which currently houses most of our clients, this means peace of mind for both staff and patients," says Henrik Sandberg, Product Manager, Ascom Wireless Solutions.

As a VoWiFi handsets to operate on 802.11n networks, the Company noted that the Ascom i62 offers capabilities such as interoperability with most enterprise-grade WiFi network suppliers, optimized integration and administrative efficiency. By deploying it over Siemens OpenScape Voice V5 platform customers can realize the benefits of seamless connectivity and wireless coverage - putting real-time information in the hands of users.
