DRS Technologies Extends Video Surveillance Ecosystem with the Integration of its Watchmaster IP Elite Thermal Camera
(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 15 June 2012
Release date- 13062012 - PARSIPPANY, NJ - DRS Technologies, Inc. a Finmeccanica Company, announced that its new WatchMaster IP Elite thermal imaging camera is compatible with March Networks' Command video management system software and 7000 Series hybrid network video recorders.
The WatchMaster IP Elite is a low-priced, high-quality thermal Internet Protocol (IP) camera produced by the Imaging and Targeting Solutions (ITS) Company of DRS. The product enables companies to enhance the performance of their surveillance and security systems by using thermal imaging technology in place of conventional cameras that require operation in low levels of visible light.
The WatchMaster IP Elite detects infrared (heat) waves to produce a sharp thermal video image with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Employing uncooled vanadium oxide technology, it can see through haze, dust, smoke, light fog and the darkest night- conditions that can severely limit the image quality of low-light systems.
The WatchMaster IP Elite can be easily integrated with other IP-based physical security products and its interoperability with the Command software platform allows businesses, government facilities, schools, utilities and other organizations to use March Networks' video management environment to control and centrally manage multiple WatchMaster IP Elite cameras across different sites. ITS maintains close working relationships with VMS vendors to help customers easily address their deployment and interoperability requirements.
The WatchMaster IP Elite and the March Networks Command solution are compliant with the ONVIF open standard. The WatchMaster IP Elite is available with a choice of three fully sealed, hard-carbon-coated athermalized fixed-focus lenses furnishing a horizontal field of view of 40-degree, 16-degree or 9-degree. Each is capable of 4X digital zoom.
March Networks' Command video management system is highly scalable, enabling companies to manage as many as 10,000 video recorders and 128,000 video channels in multisite installations from a central operations center. The software's Web-based user interface runs on both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems and can be accessed with most Web browsers. The flexible interface is easily tailored to display or hide different functions for specific user groups, which increases user efficiency and reduces training times for enterprise-class deployments.
'ITS designed the WatchMaster IP Elite with IP networking in mind,' said ITS President Todd Stirtzinger. 'We have built in compatibility with the March Networks' VMS ecosystem to enable our customers to manage multiple cameras from different sites through a single, centralized computer via a Web browser. As a result, the WatchMaster IP Elite is very easy to deploy and integrate among ONVIF conformant devices.'
The WatchMaster IP Elite is supported by March Networks' Command Enterprise video management system, version 1.3, DRS' WatchMaster IP Elite software 1.0.16, as well as other ONVIF compliant VMS software.
