Vidtel Wins Best Conferencing Award for WebRTC Gateway to Enterprise Video Conferencing Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- At last week's WebRTC Conference & Expo, Vidtel won the Best Conferencing Award for the breakthrough development to its gateway service: The native ability to connect WebRTC-enabled browsers to enterprise video conferencing infrastructure (H.264). Vidtel is the first to bridge WebRTC browsers with 3rd party video conferencing infrastructure such as Cisco, Polycom, or Vidtel's own MeetMe service, without imposing downloads or configurations on users.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20111104/MM00743LOGO) WebRTC is an open, secure technology to enable rich, real-time audio and video capabilities in the browser itself. Vidtel's WebRTC implementation lets anyone open a browser and enter into a video conferencing session with enterprise systems (SIP, H.323) as well as web/client-based systems (Skype, Google Talk or other WebRTC endpoints).

"Vidtel won the WebRTC Best Conferencing award because of its forward-looking vision," said Elliot Gold, President of TeleSpan Publishing Corporation. "Vidtel's vision is that we have to become endpoint agnostic if we want videoconferencing to be used with the frequency of the telephone." As an add-on to the existing Vidtel carrier-grade gateway service connecting H.323, SIP, Skype and Google Talk endpoints, the WebRTC functionality is available in beta as a monthly subscription through select Vidtel channel partners. It is expected to be generally available by the end of the year. The initial version is supported in Chrome browser versions 23 or higher.

About Vidtel: Vidtel is a pioneer of any-to-any cloud video conferencing services. Our easy-to-use service provides compatibility between a diverse set of business-grade SIP and H.323 (e.g., Polycom, Cisco, LifeSize), WebRTC browsers and consumer-grade video endpoints. Vidtel enables enterprises of any size to affordably experience the productivity of business-quality video conferencing between dispersed employees, partners and customers. Vidtel is located in Silicon Valley in Sunnyvale, California.
