BRIEF: Man robs Cash Store

Jan 08, 2013 (Morris Daily Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A robbery occurred the evening of Friday, Jan. 4, at The Cash Store in Morris.

At about 5:30 p.m., a report came in to Morris police that a robbery had occurred at the store, located at 281 East U.S. 6.

A male subject entered the store demanding money. Once he received the cash, he fled out the back of the store, according to the police report.

Chief Brent Dite said Monday the amount of money the robber left with is undetermined. There was one employee in the store at the time and no patrons.

Police investigators are currently trying to obtain video surveillance from the store and neighboring locations, said Dite.

The chief would not comment on whether a weapon was involved, due to it being an open investigation.


The suspect is believed to be a black man, but this was not confirmed, said Dite. The suspect is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and thin. He was wearing a mask at the time of the crime.

The suspect left the area in a large red SUV that may have had tan trim, Dite said. It could possibly be a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition.

Anyone who may have been in the area of Walmart or The Cash Store at that time and may have seen anything is asked to call the Morris Police at (815) 941-6283.
