QNAP NVRs support Vivotek fisheye camera

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Taipei, Taiwan -- The QNAP Viostor network video recorder series are among the first VMS platforms to support Vivotek's new FE8172/72V 5-megapixel fisheye camera.

The Viostor NVR's intuitive navigation interface allows users to digitally zoom into areas of a hemispheric image in both live and recorded playback view. Users can view a complete scene unfolded without obstruction from the FE8172/72V camera.

The Viostor NVR is a professional surveillance system featuring cutting-edge hardware and software designed to deliver remarkable performance in real-time video monitoring and recording. With a powerful quad-core Intel Xeon E3 processor, the high-end 12-bay Viostor NVR models deliver sustained performance at a throughput rate of 450 Mbps to ensure stable recording of multiple megapixel cameras, with RAID storage to secure mission critical video surveillance.

The Vivotek FE8172/72V camera comes with a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor which enables viewing resolution of 1920x1920 or 1080p at up to 30 fps via a 1.05 mm fisheye lens for 180 panoramic view or 360 surround view. The camera is able to provide the greatest coverage with the finest details for excellent surveillance footage. The Vivotek IP8172P is also suitable for those looking for a box camera with a focus assist-button that helps users precisely adjust the camera focus. The combination of the QNAP Viostor NVR and the Vivotek IP camera not only provides ample megapixel processing power with a reliable RAID-protected video storage, but also enables 360-degree viewing and significantly expands fields-of-view without blind spots.

"There is massive potential for 360-degree video surveillance solutions to monitor large open areas such as airports, shopping malls, parking lots, retail stores and offices," said Harry Hu, President of Vivotek USA Inc. "QNAP's deep integration allows impressive viewing capabilities with Vivotek's fisheye technology, and also helps capture and store HD videos with robust and reliable storage, delivering effective solutions proven to support medium to large scale surveillance projects." "In the security solutions marketplace today, 360-degree video surveillance solutions are becoming a critical component of a well-designed facility security blueprint. Security officers need to observe their monitored areas without any obstructions or blind spots," said Kent Chung, product manager of QNAP Security. "Combined with the Viostor NVR's intuitive interface, the Vivotek FE8172/72V camera delivers total situational awareness." QNAP is demonstrating the complete surveillance solution in combination with the QNAP Viostor NVR physical device and latest firmware application at Intersec 2013 in Dubai this week.
