2 suspects arrested in string of business burglaries

CARY, Jan 18, 2013 (The News & Observer (Raleigh - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Police apprehended two suspects in the recent string of commercial break-ins after a late night vehicle pursuit Wednesday night.

Brian Dylan Johnson, 27, of Canyon Run, and Nicolas Robert Losito, 23, of Pinetuck Court, are each charges with two counts of breaking or entering with intent to commit felony larceny, one count of felony conspiracy and one count of possession of burglary tools. Johnson is also charged with four additional counts of breaking and entering, and Losito is charged with three additional counts of breaking and entering.


The two were arrested after a Cary police officer observed suspicious activity and followed their car. A chase ensued, traveling into Raleigh, and ended when the suspects' car crashed into the Cary police cruiser.

Johnson and Losito are suspected of burglarizing of 34 businesses -- 17 of them in Cary, 12 in Apex and five in Morrisville.

Losito is being held on a $75,000 bond.

"While we are able to bring justice to these victims, we want to remind business owners to continue to be vigilant," said Lt. Steve Fonke, Criminal Investigations.

Police are still looking to identify a burglar, who has been breaking into businesses around Cary by throwing rocks through the front door.

Twelve cases have been reported since Jan. 2 -- nine in Cary, two in Apex and one in Morrisville. The most recent incident was in Cary on Jan. 15. Video surveillance indicates the suspect is a white male of average height with facial hair. Police provided no additional identifying characteristics such as hair color, scars or tattoos.
