BRIEF: Sheriff seeks public's help in finding East Limestone armed robber

Jan 29, 2013 (The News Courier - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Limestone County Sheriff's investigators are seeking the public's help in finding the man who robbed an eastern Limestone County store at gunpoint Monday night.


A store clerk at A&D Food Mart on East Limestone Road reported being robbed about 9:15 p.m. by a black man standing 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 180 to 185 pounds, Chief Investigator Capt. Stanley McNatt said.

The suspect, dressed in black and wearing a black cap and red bandana, entered the store armed with a handgun and stole money and cigarettes, which had been placed in a white plastic bag, McNatt said. The robber also stole the clerk's .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, the captain said.

The suspect ordered the clerk to give him the video-surveillance tape depicting the robbery and to lie on the floor until he exited.

The clerk locked the door to the store after the suspect left and telephone 911. He could not supply investigators with a vehicle description, McNatt said.

Deputies combed the area but could not find a vehicle or suspect.
