VoIPReview.org Weighs in on the Top 5 Valuable Ways that VoIP Voicemail Features Make Business Better

Feb 26, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Over the course of a very busy day, any one employee is likely to miss a call or two. Without voicemail, lots of businesses could be in a lot of trouble from having so many missed calls. Voicemail features allow employees to come and go as they please more comfortably, without worry that they will lose important business if they are away from their phones for a few minutes.

Oftentimes, though, the basic voicemail options offered by traditional providers just don't cut it. Many businesses have adopted Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to take advantage of the expanded voicemail options available with many VoIP plans. Providers offer subscribers features that make their voicemail easily accessible and customizable. With that in mind, VoIPReview.org has announced several ways voicemail is better with VoIP.

Visual Voicemail It doesn't matter whether an employee is at home, on vacation, or just away from their desk, VoIP providers offer users the option to access their voicemail inboxes from anywhere. The user simply logs in to their account, and they can see a visual interface with their messages and all of their customization options. From there, they can listen to any message in any order, program the greeting callers will hear, and configure how many times the phone rings before the voicemail activates.

A Greeting for Any Situation Many providers offer customized greetings in addition to basic options. While the standard unavailable greeting can play any time the employee has stepped away from their IP phone, an employee can program a busy greeting for when they are on another line or not accepting calls. And, if the employee is on vacation, they can create a greeting that notifies callers how long they will be gone and when they hope to return.

Professionally Recorded Greetings Some providers offer professionally recorded greetings for a one-time fee (typically $50). That way a business can sound like a Fortune 500 company, even if they're not. The business writes the script (with helpful suggestions from the provider), picks the right voice talent and music for their message, and the provider handles the rest. After that, a professionally recorded message will be available in about 7-10 business days.

Voicemail-to-Email Many service providers offer a voicemail-to-email feature, which is a great solution for telecommuting employees. Any time an employee receives a voicemail they will also receive an email alerting them to the new message. Additionally, some providers offer an option to receive the actual voicemail message as an email attachment. Using any device that transmits audio (i.e. computer, smartphone, tablet) they can listen to the MP3 file, and also save it for later review.

Voicemail Transcription In addition to the MP3 option, some business VoIP providers offer a feature that sends a transcription of the voicemail message to the employee. This is a full text version of the voicemail delivered directly to the employee's email so that, in the event the employee can't listen to the message, they can read it instead.
