Welcome to the first week in review for February in SIP Phones. After a busy ITEXPO (News - Alert) East week, let’s take a peek at what went on in SIP Phones this week.
This week, TMCnet reported Zoltes Media Analyzer for data centers was just launched from Zoltes. The new product offering allows service providers to monitor and analyze traffic in TelePresence and video collaboration systems. Users can troubleshoot multiplexed, primary and secondary video streams, including voice traffic, for TelePresence endpoints running SIP or H.323.
Also this week, TMCnet learned that Panasonic’s SIP phone is becoming quite the start since its inception two weeks ago.
“So far we have had a great response from hosted providers/open source PBX dealers regarding the Panasonic SIP KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone (News - Alert),” Bill Savino, marketing manager for business communication solutions at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America, told TMCnet. “They have been impressed with the design, overall quality and ability to integrate business applications and tools directly into the phone utilizing the open-source based operating system.”
The Panasonic (News - Alert) SIP KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone will be a perfect fit for retail, healthcare, hospitality and education.
In related news, the KX-UT670 was the recipient of TMC’s (News - Alert) 2011 Internet Telephony Product of the Year award.
“We are honored to receive the 2011 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award for the KX-UT670,” said Bill Savino, marketing manager for Business Communications Solutions at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America in a statement. “This is Panasonic’s first SIP desk phone to be based on an open source-based operating system. The KX-UT670 allows for integrated solutions to be developed for business communications and operations which are flexible, reliable, and cost-effective.”
Because the device is open-source-based, it’s easy for developers.
The KX-UT670 SIP phone includes features, such as:
- Six SIP accounts
- Seven-inch touch display
- HD Voice (G.722)
- Three-way conference call support
- Compatible with Asterisk (News - Alert) and Broadsoft
- 2 x GbE ports, PoE
- Linux based open source operating system
- Full duplex speaker phone
