TMCnet's SIP Phones Week in Review

Friday around here means a weekly roundup of pertinent industry news, and in this edition, we’ll look at all that’s happened with SIP Phones.

IP phone maker IP Trade Networks showed off its products at a recent open house hosted by BBH Solutions. At the event, IP Trade Networks featured its trading turret based on IP Trade's Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert).


The solution is fully compatible with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and other VoIP systems.

“We continue to raise BBH Solutions brand awareness with high-profile strategic partnerships such as IP Trade Networks; the overwhelming success of our open-house IT seminar’s are just one avenue in demonstrating our position as a leader in customized IT solutions,” said Bruce Hoernecke, president and CEO BBH Solutions.

In case you missed it, TMCnet had a chance to sit down with Bill Savino, marketing manager for business communication solutions at Panasonic (News - Alert) System Communications Company of North America, to discuss its latest SIP phone, an open source-based operating system desk phone, talked about at length on the tradeshow floor.

“Being that this phone is a truly customizable business solution, it can really be tailored to a variety of vertical markets,” Savino said. “We believe that the main vertical markets that will benefit from the Panasonic SIP KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone (News - Alert) will the retail, healthcare, hospitality and education. However, this phone is truly ideal for any industry because of its ability to be customized based on which applications are loaded. Additionally, for any business industry, the KX-UT670 can be used for office facility control- to open and close curtains, control air conditioning and heating or even lock and unlock doors- the possibilities are really endless.”

Last but not least, LG-Ericsson (News - Alert) announced that its products have “beaten all averages in SIP-trunking interoperability tests that were administered by 3NG networks.”

“SIP trunking is one of the ways that businesses can leverage the latest in reliable IP networking to deliver economical broad-spectrum communications,” said Director of Product Marketing Iain Kenney (News - Alert). “Our iPECS-LIK pure IP and ipLDK-60 hybrid communications solutions, both of which utilize LG-Ericsson's flexible and comprehensive communications software, both passed 3NG's SIP interoperability testing easily, demonstrating that our customers can rely on LG-Ericsson's IP communications solutions for reliable SIP trunking.”
