It’s time for another Week in Review, which takes a look back at the top stories this week in the SIP Phones industry. Let’s begin!
First up, VoxNet managed to impress David Cole, president of the North Carolina Senior Care Council (NcSCC), when the company made installing the NcSCC’s new hosted PBX (News - Alert) system easy, while providing excellent customer care. The most impressive part is that the whole installation took place over the phone.
“The project management, on a scale of one to ten, was a ten,” Cole said with enthusiasm, “and the support is truly 24x7 at the highest levels. Matt, a senior-level guy who was there from the beginning, was working with me on something at six o’clock at night, and I’m saying to him, ‘What time do you get off?’ And he goes, ‘When this problem is solved.’”
IP Phone (News - Alert) Warehouse announced this week that it is releasing a new line of VoIP PBX communications servers from Barracuda CudaTel, expanding phone services to companies of all sizes. This will allow IP Phone Warehouse to provide subscribers with more features, including user support, easy setup and installation, and provisioning.
“IP Phone Warehouse decided to add the CudaTel product line because of Barracuda’s reputation in the IT industry and due to popular demand from our customers,” said Tyler Hrdlicka, director of Business Development at IP Phone Warehouse. “Several of our clients were actually buying phones from us to use on their CudaTel phone systems so we decided it was time to embrace this opportunity and start selling the CudaTel phone systems ourselves.”
In other news, TMCnet Contributor Michelle Amodio explained the difference between SIP and VoIP, noting that the two, though often confused for one another, are vastly different.
SIP, she says, is simply a means of using VoIP over multiple trunks with the SIP protocol. In other words, it is an application-layer protocol that creates, modifies and terminates sessions with multiple participants. VoIP, on the other hand, is an IP version of a standard phone system.
Lastly, Echopass Corporation was named by Genesys (News
- Alert) Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc., as North American Hosted Partner of the Year for 2011. Echopass is a member of the Genesys Partner Program.
Echopass’ professional services, contact center solutions, cloud-based and hosted solutions in North America gave the company its Hosted Partner of the Year award. Echopass’ partnership with Genesys incorporates Gensys’ SIP server, Customer Interaction Management Platform and technologies, allowing Echopass to deliver hosted, cloud-based contact center service.
That’s all for this Week in Review, but be sure to check back with the SIP Phones channel for more news in this sector.
