Panasonic SIP Phones Certified Interoperable with Edgewater's Plug & Dial Solution

Panasonic (News - Alert) offers a unique and robust line of custom SIP phones to meet a variety of business needs, and now it’s been revealed that the company’s line of SIP phones are interoperable with Edgewater’s Plug & Dial Solution, which uses the EdgeMarc ESBC and the EdgeView VoIP Support System to automate the provisioning of a range of IP phones.

Not only does this help reduce operating expenses, but it also improves the end-user experience for service providers delivering cloud communications services. Specifically, the Panasonic phones that have received certification on EdgeView version 11.7.2 are the KX-UT113B, KX-UT123B, KX-UT133B and the KX-UT136B.

“We are pleased to add Panasonic’s suite of SIP phones to our list of approved devices. Panasonic has developed a complete line of business-class phones that offer HD voice quality and easy operation,” said Dave Norman, CEO of Edgewater Networks (News - Alert), in a statement. “This addition to the growing list of Plug & Dial certified phones allows us to provide even more customers with simple and hassle-free installations.”

Specifically, the Plug & Dial Alliance program works to provide interoperability testing for multi-vendor VoIP networking environments and automated setup of a variety of brands of SIP-based IP phones, the statement explains. Further, service providers using the Plug & Dial solution can significantly shorten hosted PBX (News - Alert) installation times, as well as simplify ongoing moves, adds and changes.

Edgewater's solution uses intuitive voice prompts that are provided to the end-user so that they can ultimately “self-provision,” which allows them to completely omit and avoid the pre-staging or manual configuration of IP phones. Another robust aspect of the solution is that it provides notification to existing OSS or billing systems when the automated IP phone configuration is complete. The advanced level of automation provided by the Plug & Dial solution can reduce installation times from hours to minutes.

“This alliance with Edgewater Networks allows us to solve real problems for organizations who are increasingly adopting cloud-based telephony solutions,” added Kim Murtagh, product manager for SIP at Panasonic. “With Edgewater, we broaden our ability to offer a flexible, expandable, and reliable solution to customers.”

“We have used Edgewater’s EdgeMarc ESBCs and Panasonic’s SIP phones independently for some time and have been very satisfied,” explained Chris Flenniken, Sales and Marketing director at Austin Telephone Company.  “However, the certification of interoperability will greatly simplify installation and ongoing maintenance.”
