SIP phones serve as a more flexible, expandable and reliable way to deploy users’ SIP-based telephony. The benefits of SIP are plenty, and are especially compelling in today’s business environment – and economy – where every dollar holds its value. A SIP phone system is a perfect and simple solution for small businesses or even larger SIP endpoint deployments.
This week in SIP phone news, Panasonic (News - Alert) was honored the title of a “Sustainability Leader,” meaning the company will present best practices for others to emulate for future success. Among other companies who snagged the top 10 list were GE and Ford, who comprised less than one-third of today’s largest companies who surpassed the 70 percent score needed to define themselves a “sustainability leader.” Further, Panasonic was one of only two companies to make the list from last year’s – securing its spot two years in a row.
In other news, National Development, a New England-based real estate development and property management firm, turned to VoIP communications technology to ensure the safety of its tenants, even allowing them to set up a 24x7 outage hotline during Hurricane Sandy. Thanks to Votacall’s VoIP phone solution, they were able to benefit from its built-in disaster recovery (DR) plan, which passed all tests with flying colors as Sandy swept through the area.
The outage hotline was developed “to receive critical updates on the state of power in their buildings,” explains Greg Gagne, property manager. The Votacall Hosted VoIP solution allowed us to have uninterrupted communication with our tenants during the storm.”
Wrapping up the week is other Sandy news, where Birch Communications, an IP-based telecom and managed services provider for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), is helping its affected customers by currently waiving all service charges. “Our hearts go out to those who have evacuated their businesses and homes in these coastal areas, Birch wants to let our customers know that when they go back to their workplaces or homes, we will be available to assist them,” explained Vincent M. Oddo, president and CEO, adding that the company would remain by its customers’ side during this time of severe tragedy for some and sadness for all.
