Celebrate the New Year by Ditching Your Traditional Telephone Line

A long standing tradition associated with ringing in the New Year is making a New Year’s resolution. Whether it’s committing to a more health-conscious lifestyle, altering your perspective on something or dropping a bad habit, these self-made dedications can also be applied to your business to ensure future growth and continuity.

When you think about it, a business’ communications serves as the skeleton of its body. Without this crucial supporting factor, everything else would immediately collapse. While traditional telephone systems were once a fine way of conducting business, bigger and better methods have inevitably surfaced in today’s tech-intertwined era – namely, VoIP or SIP business phone systems.

VoIP or session initiation protocol (SIP) phone systems exploded onto the scene, and are expected to rise in popularity and adoption in 2013. Not only do these types of advanced communication systems enable organizations to reduce their total communications line item expense, but they also allow for increased flexibility, as additional line extensions can be easily added or removed via simple requests rather than complex equipment changes, a recent InsideUp blog explains.

The blog also does a great job of explaining why hosted VoIP phone options are ideal for today’s evolving business.

“A hosted PBX (News - Alert) system is a VoIP platform that can be rented or leased, monthly or annually, eliminating the up-front cost associated with purchasing required equipment. The VoIP provider will manage the platform’s ongoing operation remotely,” the blog says, listing a number of benefits of a hosted PBX phone system over an in-house option, including:

  • ·Reduced initial costs (businesses save on average about 40 percent on nationwide calls and up to 90 percent on international calls)
  • Enhanced flexibility (you can make long distance calls to other states or even other countries unbelievably easily)
  • Eliminating in-house maintenance requirements (saves even more money by lowering maintenance and repair costs, as well).
  • Seamless upgrades (by avoiding the complexities of in-house maintenance)

Even more, a recent study released by EasternManagementGroup reveals hosted and cloud PBXs continue to be a huge driving factor of the SIP market. The global research study of 7,000 IT managers further revealed that an overwhelming 82 percent of new communications systems now support SIP to improve the overall efficiency of their business operations. In other words, SIP isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

So what are you waiting for? Make it your business’ New Year’s resolution to ditch its old, lagging telephone system for a new, enhanced and cost-efficient SIP phone system to help streamline business, such as Panasonic’s (News - Alert) esteemed line of Corded or Cordless SIP phones.
