An Overview of Panasonic's Award-Winning SIP Phones Over the Years

Panasonic (News - Alert) has enjoyed quite an impressive collection of accolades and honors for its robust line of SIP phones over the years. As we welcome the New Year, let’s take a look back to recognize all of the hard work the company has put in to achieve such prestige for its SIP phone solutions.

First up is Panasonic’s KX-UT670 Smart SIP Desk Phone (News - Alert), which was awarded both the 2011 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award as well as the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY 2012 Innovation Award.

The Product of the Year Award is offered to innovative, new communications solutions on the market, and the KX-UT670 is just that. Boasting a large, seven-inch LCD touchscreen for easy access to and control of phone features and installed applications, the phone serves as the company’s first SIP desk phone to be based on an open source-based operating system, as explained by Bill Savino, marketing manager for business communication solutions at Panasonic System Communications Company of North America.

For, say, the retail sector or educational sector, the KX-UT670’s high-quality video (H.264/720P) viewer and up to 16 integrated Panasonic Networking Security Cameras can discreetly yet efficiently monitor critical environments – even from home.

This year, this same phone was awarded INTERNET TELEPHONY’S 2012 TMC Labs Innovation Award, honored to products that display innovation, unique features and significant contributions toward improving communications technology, according to a statement.

According to CTO and TMC Labs Founder Tom Keating (News - Alert), “The TMC Labs Innovation Award represents the best and the most unique products and services that this industry has to offer. Panasonic has proven its commitment to quality and the further development of the IP communications industry through its Panasonic SIP KX-UT670 Smart Desk Phone.”

Savino further commented, explaining that Panasonic continues to strive to meet the “ever-changing technology needs of our customers in a variety of industries.”

Next up is Panasonic’s SIP UT Series, which was named Best-of-Show in the Open Source Category at ITEXPO (News - Alert) West 2011. This top honor was presented to Panasonic “after careful product evaluation,” according to a statement, which also elaborates that the award serves to highlight outstanding products based on creative and technological innovations, as well as how a product can contribute to the development of future communications products and services.

Rounding out this impressive list of awards is one that was presented just last week. Panasonic was awarded the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award for its KX-UT248-B Executive SIP Phone. This year was apparently a much closer call than years past, where the requirements were more rigorous and the competition was stiffer, as explained by TMC’s Editorial Director, Erik Linask (News - Alert). "Judging this year was more difficult than ever, with the breadth of products being reflective of the continuous evolution of the IP communications market.  These winners have been chosen based on their innovation and ability to solve real business communications challenges," Linask explained in a statement.

Savino further detailed the company’s excitement for this newest award, saying that the KX-UT248-B “is a perfect fit for any small or midsized business in any industry.”
