TMCnet SIP Phones Week in Review

SIP phones serve as a more flexible, expandable and reliable way to deploy users’ SIP-based telephony. The benefits of SIP are plenty, and are especially compelling in today’s business environment – and economy – where every dollar holds its value. A SIP phone system is a perfect and simple solution for small businesses or even larger SIP endpoint deployments.

Starting out this week is news of Panasonic (News - Alert) Japan revealing its new VoIP-Phone (News - Alert) Compatible Android tablet, the VS-HPS200S. This newest device is a unique cordless phone complete with a seven-inch Android tablet, and according to a statement, was strategically designed to offer users a “more ‘connected’ experience at home,” and is expected to have a Q1 2013 launch.

In other news, TMC (News - Alert) reviewed all of Panasonic’s award-winning SIP phone solutions over the last two years, including its KX-UT670 Smart SIP Desk Phone, its SIP UT Series and most recently, its KX-UT248-B Executive SIP Phone, which this month was presented with the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year award.

This year was apparently a much closer call than years past, where the requirements were more rigorous and the competition was stiffer, as explained by TMC’s Editorial Director, Erik Linask (News - Alert). "Judging this year was more difficult than ever, with the breadth of products being reflective of the continuous evolution of the IP communications market.  These winners have been chosen based on their innovation and ability to solve real business communications challenges," Linask explained in a statement.

Wrapping up this week was some helpful information regarding the biggest business benefits of using VoIP phones. These included unbelievable simplicity, an all-in-one package, extended battery backup, easy 911 integration and easy compatibility and interoperability. Combine this with the fact that VoIP phones are generally easier to install, use and maintain, and you’ve got an unbeatable solution for efficient, uninterrupted business communications.
