Business Phone Systems Continue to Mature with Migration to IP Phones

In some exciting SIP phone-related news this week, Digitcom, one of Canada's largest resellers of phone and data solutions, rolled out its all-new Hosted PBX platform, serving as a unique hybrid premise/ hosted PBX communication solution.


This new solution is loaded with distinctive features for businesses who own the phone and the system in a cloud-based Hosted PBX environment, which completely eliminates the need to invest in expensive associated hardware or software. Considering today’s economy and many recent business resolutions related to frugality, this is especially appealing.

With this, the company’s small and midsize enterprise customers craving hosted services for reduced telecommunications costs and complexity will certainly benefit from Digitcom’s services.

“As the business phone systems market has matured, client requests for an IP-centric voice network have increased exponentially," Digitcom President Jeff Wiener explains. "This increase in client interest has spurred our corporate migration towards this IP-centric model, leading to many new competitive challenges; none more so than hosted PBX."

In response to the competitive challenge hosted PBX now presents, Wiener adds, “Digitcom has not only joined the ranks of hosted PBX, "we have done one better, and I'm proud to introduce Digitcom's own HostedPBX platform and our own unique hybrid premise/hosted PBX solution."

Prior to this, Digitcom conducted an extensive evaluation process to select Acme Packet’s (News - Alert) Net-Net Session Director to power its new SIP trunking and hosted PBX service offerings. Leveraging Acme Packet’s solution, Digitcom was able to launch SureConnect in a rapidly growing hosted VoIP services market quickly and cost-effectively.

In other SIP phones news, Panasonic (News - Alert) was recently awarded the 2012 INTERNET TELEPHONY Product of the Year Award for its KX-UT248-B Executive SIP Phone (News - Alert). Honorees were selected “based on their innovation and ability to solve real business communications challenges,” as stated by Erik Linask, TMC (News - Alert) Editorial Director. This serves as a yet another accomplishment and award granted for Panasonic’s esteemed line of business SIP phones.
