Taking a Closer Look at Panasonic's New Toughpads

At this week’s highly anticipated Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, Panasonic (News - Alert) made a huge splash with a number of new reveals and exciting consumer technology. While the company is highly regarded for both its consumer and business solutions ranging from HDTVs to robust SIP phones, these new additions only further displayed its commitment to ensuring success. Among the bunch were two new toughpads – a market the company already confidently dominates – which further expanded its toughpad enterprise-grade tablet line.

The first toughpad – the Toughpad FZ-G1 – is a 10-inch tablet featuring Windows 8 Pro. The second – the JT-B1 – is a seven-inch Android (News - Alert)-powered unit. Both devices, however, follow the original 10-inch Android-powered Toughpad FZ-A1, which made waves after becoming widely available late last year.

“With the Toughpad (#Toughpad) family of ruggedized tablets, businesses and government institutions have a single partner delivering a selection of highly reliable and purpose-built devices ideal for numerous operational needs,” the company explains in a statement.

It proudly claims that “fearless just got bolder” with the new tablets, which are well-suited “for the real world.”

“For nearly 20 years, Panasonic has engineered the most reliable mobile computing devices on the market,” explained Rance M. Poehler, president, Panasonic System Communications Company of North America. “Because our customers know they can count on our products to deliver performance and return on investment, Panasonic – through its Toughbook brand – holds nearly 80 percent market share in the rugged mobile device space. We believe our engineering acumen, vertical market expertise and reputation for reliability, backed by our world-class service, will result in the Toughpad family being the leading B2B tablet solution in the coming years.”

In a blog this week, the company explained that these toughpads “finally [deliver] on the promise of ultra-mobile tablet computing for business,” being available in multiple sizes and operating systems, yet each stocked with rugged durability, security and performance that “make no compromises.”

“The Toughpad is designed to be the device that brings workers encountering the real-world to the third platform – today,” it notes. So far, these newest additions to the company’s toughpad family have been warmly welcomed by consumers.
